CANDLE SAFETY
Candle safety is an important topic to be aware of, as candles can be very dangerous if not properly handled. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when using candles:
- Always make sure the candle is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- First time burning, burn for only 10-15 minutes. Then let solidify and trim the wick before relighting.
- Burn for 2 hours at a time.
- Trim wicks before lighting each time.
- Keep candles away from flammable materials and open windows.
- Make sure candles are in a place where children and pets cannot reach them.
- If you are using a scented candle, make sure the fragrance is not overpowering.
- Always use a candle snuffer or a spoon to extinguish the flame.
- Regularly trim the wick to 1/4 inch to help prevent smoking and soot buildup.
- Make sure the flame is not too high, as it can cause the candle to burn too quickly.
- Discard a candle when it has burned down to 1/2 inch of the holder.
